Business Manager - Laboratories
1. How long have you been with Groundwork Plus?
After suppling external testing for the GW+ team for approximately 10 years, I started in July 2019 opening up the first full aggregates laboratory for GW+. Following 17 years in the CMT industry for both small and global business, its been amazing to come into such a close, focussed and driven team.
2. What is your role at Groundwork Plus and what does it entail?
My role as Business Manager – Laboratories entails the overarching responsibility and technical control of the Brendale Laboratory, while ensuring we continue to deliver with integrity and ethics our service of testing and reporting to highest of standards. Client communications, technical review and reporting will also be a daily activity, while ensuring we remain compliant to the ISO 17025 and our NATA Accreditation.
3. What are your areas of particular interest or your proudest accomplishment?
Following 12 years in the construction industry as mostly a plant operator, a small Geotech company took me onboard as their first “mature aged” trainee at 31. Completing training including Adv Dip of Laboratory Operations and a Dip of Management I was running my first Laboratory within 5 years.
I am also pleased to say I have been a NATA Technical Assessor for many years and very much enjoy the opportunity to visit Geotechnical Laboratories around the state.
4. What is your favourite way to spend a weekend?
I generally spend a Saturday in shed on one of my projects, atm a 1923 Ford hotrod. Other than that, maintaining either my 1970’s style chopper, my 1962 GMC pickup OR my wifes Bonnieville T100. If no shed time is available it’s generally due to my wife (Samantha) daughter (Maddy) and I off in the caravan, Cotton Tree is always on the cards. Otherwise there will always be something on the smoker on a Sunday, a couple of quiet drinks with friends and some old vinyl playing in the background.
We have an array of animals that we all share our time with, Holley (Amstaff/Ridgeback), Gizmo (Amstaff), Maddy's black cat Wes Mantooth and 10 chickens……yes weekends are a blur at the Gregsons.
