1. How long have you been with Groundwork Plus?
I have been at Groundwork Plus for three months and I am loving it! I recently finished a Bachelor of Science (majoring in ecology) at the University of Adelaide, as well as having done part of the degree in Singapore, Germany and France. I have grown up in a family-owned earthmoving and quarrying business, and I honestly did not expect to find a job in the same industry as my parents!
2. What is your role at Groundwork Plus, and what does it entail?
At Groundwork Plus I am an Environmental Consultant, which is an exciting job that involves site inspections to assess vegetation, desktop analyses of sites and report writing. My favourite part of the job is being able to do a mixture of office work and field work – I love the variation and travelling to different locations around the state. Every site is different with varying flora and fauna communities. I have also had opportunities to be part of community consultation and Mining Lease Proposal development.
3. What are your areas of particular interest or your proudest accomplishment?
I have three proudest accomplishments because I couldn’t decide – working on a remote sheep station in South Australia for a year, recently getting my first podium place in a motorbike competition and having the opportunity to present my ideas about blue carbon at the Parliament House in Canberra which is coming up very soon! My interests include language learning and nature-based climate solutions for the world. In the workplace, my proudest accomplishment so far has been taking the work ute and going to a Site by myself for the first time and creating a new framework for community consultation for the SA office to take on.
4. What is your favourite way to spend a weekend?
If you catch me on a weekend, I will either be sipping on a rose at a winery with friends, riding my motorbike with my dad or learning a language.
